Preparing a Drawing for Bending
Sheet metal is formed by bending to the project geometry. Dimensioned drawings showing bend directions, angles, material and thickness help assess manufacturability. Cutting and bending can be reviewed as one production workflow.
Prepare a legible dimensioned drawing and identify the latest revision. State quantity, required finish and delivery expectations. Mark dimensions that are essential to the part’s function.
Ask whether the quote includes material, cutting, forming, welding, finishing and delivery where applicable. Compare the same scope of work rather than price alone. A technical review is required before an order is confirmed. This guide provides general preparation information.
